What preparations should be made before using a multi-functional busbar machine?

The multifunctional busbar machine (often referred to simply as a "busbar processing machine" or "copper bar processing machine") is a high-efficiency unit integrating multiple functions; it is an essential piece of equipment for small and medium-sized manufacturers of high- and low-voltage switchgear.

Upon receiving the equipment and before commencing operations with the multi-function busbar machine, the user must strictly complete a full set of preparatory tasks—including installation, hydraulic oil filling, electrical wiring, power-up/reset, and no-load testing—to ensure stable operation and safety. The following outlines the standardized pre-start preparation procedure.

Step 1: Install the three-station foot switches

The multi-function busbar machine features three independent work stations: shearing, punching, and bending. Before startup, the corresponding foot switches must be installed for each station. Ensure the foot switches are securely connected and properly positioned, with no cables being crushed or pulled, to guarantee responsive and effective foot-pedal control.

Step 2: Fill with No. 46 hydraulic oil

The hydraulic system is the core power mechanism of the busbar machine; therefore, the hydraulic oil level must be checked and topped up before startup. First, open the oil tank cabinet door, unscrew the filler cap, and use the provided tool to fill the tank with No. 46 hydraulic oil (Related article: Hydraulic Oil Selection Guide). The standard fill volume is approximately 90L; fill until the oil reaches the red mark inside the tank, avoiding levels that are too high or too low, as this could affect operation. Once filled, securely close the filler cap and the oil tank cabinet door.

Step 3: Connect electrical wiring and power up

Use a dedicated 6mm² cable for the electrical connection; the terminal block is located in the bottom-left area of the electrical cabinet. Connect the three phase wires and the neutral wire according to specifications, ensuring secure and proper connections—free from looseness or poor contact—to provide stable power to the equipment.

Step 4: Turn on the power and release the emergency stop

After wiring is completed and verified, turn the key switch on the control panel; the indicator lights and operation screen should illuminate. Next, sequentially release the emergency stop buttons for the shearing, punching, and bending units to disengage the safety lock and complete the power-up reset process.

Step 5: No-load testing and commissioning

Once all preliminary preparations are complete, press the foot switches for each station to verify that they operate correctly. If none of the three stations respond, it indicates that the power supply phase sequence is reversed. At this point, cut off the power to adjust the wiring by swapping the connection positions of any two phase wires, then restore power. Test the machine by operating the foot switch; if the equipment runs smoothly across all stations and functions correctly without any faults, the setup is complete, and the multifunctional busbar machine is ready for official use.

Note

Beginners are strongly advised to practice under the guidance of an experienced technical engineer, starting with basic busbar cutting and punching tasks. Proceed to more complex multi-step processing and bending operations only after fully mastering the equipment's characteristics and safety protocols.
